At Sphera, the month of June brings our anniversary as well as our annual Safety and Sustainability Day. We recognize these two days together, which gives us the chance to celebrate the accomplishments of the previous year and rededicate ourselves to creating a safer, more sustainable and productive world.
As we mark our eighth anniversary, I’ve been looking back at the developments that build on our ability to support our customers. Our January 2024 acquisition of SupplyShift, a pioneer in supply chain sustainability software, tops the list. It was clear to us that businesses with complex supply chains need stronger capabilities to manage the impacts of geopolitical conflicts, a changing climate and growing Scope 3—or value chain—emissions disclosure requirements. In response to these challenges, we launched Supply Chain Transparency (SCT), which was made possible by the SupplyShift acquisition.
SCT encompasses our Supply Chain Sustainability and Supply Chain Risk Management Solutions; these solutions enable companies to proactively manage the costs and risks associated with supply chain operations. SCT also improves their ability to manage emerging ESG- and compliance-related developments, especially as they relate to Scope 3 reporting. To know more about how this solution can help, contact us to request a demo.
To help organizations improve safety measures and manage their compliance efforts, we enhanced our Advanced Risk Assessment Solution. The updates help process and manufacturing plant managers proactively monitor, assess and manage risk. Get in touch to learn how the solution can help you advance safety within your organization.
We also introduced our Portfolio Management Software for financed emissions to help financial institutions identify and manage the emissions tied to their lending and investing activities. These Scope 3 emissions are estimated to be 700x higher than financial institutions’ direct emissions, so we predict an increased demand for portfolio management software. Our solution represents just one of the ways we support our customers with Scope 3 data collection, measurement and reporting.
Enabling robust Scope 3 reporting requires an understanding of its related challenges, and this topic was the focus of our first annual Scope 3 Report that published earlier this year. We also released our annual 2023 Process Safety Report as well as our inaugural Supply Chain Risk Report. These publications highlight relevant developments and demonstrate the value of technology in adapting to today’s dynamic business environment.
While our reports make Sphera’s thought leadership accessible to a wide audience, we also enjoy meeting face to face to exchange ideas and insights. We had the opportunity to do this with a large group of customers at our 2024 Customer Summit. Held in Austin, Texas, the late spring event allowed us to connect in person after a lengthy pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sessions and workshops focused on developing business resilience and transparency and achieving progress in enterprise sustainability management (ESM) practices. Visit this page for links to on-demand sessions. And if you’re interested in attending our second Sphera Summit in Germany this fall, I invite you to register now.
It’s important that our software and tools meet the needs of the market, and the analyst and media acknowledgements that Sphera earned in the last year indicate that we’re on the right track. E+E Leader recognized our Integrated Sustainability Solution with a 2024 Top Product of the Year Award, and Verdantix highlighted our Process Safety Management Software and our carbon management software capabilities. And, for the third year in a row, Built In identified Sphera as one of the Best Large Places to Work in Chicago. We are grateful for this recognition and the other awards and analyst mentions we’ve received.
This year was a busy one, and we believe that it’s important to step back and remind ourselves why our efforts matter. This is exactly what our Safety and Sustainability Day is for. At all Sphera locations around the globe, our colleagues engage in sustainability- and safety-focused activities and learning events that drive home the need to protect our environment and promote safety in our communities and in the places we work.
As we celebrate our anniversary and Safety and Sustainability Day, we are also mindful of the support we receive from our customers and partners. We can’t create a safer, more sustainable and productive world without them, and we look forward to our continued relationships with them.
I’d also like to express my gratitude to Spherions around the world. It is an honor and a pleasure to work with you, and I wish you much success in the year ahead. Happy Safety and Sustainability Day and happy anniversary, Sphera!
