Challenges

As Faerch continued to advance its innovative recycling technology, the company faced a significant data gap. No existing life cycle assessment (LCA) data accurately reflected the unique characteristics of this company-specific technology, making it difficult to measure and communicate its environmental impact.

Without quantitative proof points, Faerch lacked the ability to clearly demonstrate the environmental advantages of its innovative approach compared to existing recycled PET (rPET) technologies.

Solution

To address this challenge, Faerch partnered with Sphera to develop company-specific LCA content tailored to its innovative recycling process.

Using Sphera’s Managed LCA Content (MLC) expertise, Sphera developed a dedicated dataset for Faerch’s Cirrec recycled PET (rPET) technology, enabling the company to accurately assess and communicate the environmental performance of its solution.

Results

With Sphera’s support, Faerch was able to showcase the environmental performance of its innovative Cirrec recycled PET (rPET) technology through detailed LCA and carbon footprint results.

The company gained quantitative insights that demonstrated the environmental benefits of its company-specific recycling technology compared to incumbent rPET technologies, helping validate the value of its innovative approach.
