Sphera’s SaaS platform was recognized by independent analyst for ESG and risk management solutions that optimize performance across Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Product Stewardship

CHICAGO, IL (August 12, 2021) – Sphera®, a global leader in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risk and performance management software, data and consulting services, has been named a leader in the process safety management (PSM) software market by Verdantix, an independent analyst firm, in its recently released Green Quadrant report.

For the benchmark report, Verdantix used its proprietary Green Quadrant methodology and independent research to assess the capabilities of 13 PSM software providers on their ability to meet customer demands to consolidate functionality and technology integrations into comprehensive solutions. Following a three-hour demonstration, responses to a questionnaire and a review of data from 560 industry decision-makers, Sphera was named a leader in PSM.

Among other areas, Sphera received the highest marks in the areas of:

  • Chemical management
  • Control of work
  • Risk management
  • Mechanical integrity
  • Contractor management
  • Innovation strategy

According to the report, “Sphera offers a unique combination of leading chemical and risk solutions for PSM,” and for chemical management in particular, “Sphera offers substantial chemical compliance and risk management capabilities for process safety activities. The main driver for this strong score is the SpheraCloud module.”

Sphera’s Control of Work solution also was cited as a competitive advantage for its functionality. For over 30 years, companies have relied on Sphera’s Control of Work software to help them standardize their control over processes, identify and manage risk exposure, connect disparate data and deliver safer, more efficient schedules, and the product was recently updated with a new look and interactive features to make it even more intuitive.

“PSM software buyers are looking to work with PSM vendors that have mobile applications with offline functionality for PSM, open architecture, and extensive out-of-the-box functionality and standards to support PSM programs,” said Bill Pennington, Verdantix’s research director, “and Sphera excels in all of those areas.”

The report also says that buyers looking for comprehensive chemical management solutions and those requiring product stewardship and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) compliance in addition to PSM solutions should consider Sphera.

“With today’s complex organizations, especially in asset-intensive, hazardous industries, process safety management is more critical than ever,” said Paul Marushka, Sphera’s president and CEO. “For more than 30 years, companies have trusted Sphera to help them keep their people, assets and processes safe, and this recognition exemplifies how our focus on data, software and expertise is a best-in-class approach to process safety.”
