In the process industry, the notion of eschewing traditional desktop applications, such as spreadsheets, for an enterprise-level Operational Risk Management software for Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) is a strategy that should have organizations licking their chops. But as with any premium item, the very idea of “How much bang will we get for our buck?” is the question du jour. Desktop applications certainly appear cheaper on first blush but are they really a better value? Undoubtedly no.
