This commitment to the UN Global Compact builds on Sphera’s previous admission to the Science Based Targets initiative earlier this year.

CHICAGO, IL (October 21, 2021) – Sphera®, a global leader in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance and risk management software, data and consulting services, today announced that it has joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary corporate sustainability initiative for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practice.

The U.N. Global Compact calls on companies to align their strategies and operations with 10 universal principles related to human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption in support of the U.N. goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs shape sustainable development efforts around a common framework. Companies are asked to do business responsibly and pursue opportunities to solve societal challenges through innovation and collaboration.

“Sphera has always followed responsible business practices,” said Sphera CEO and President Paul Marushka. “Doing what’s right for the planet and doing what’s right for businesses aren’t mutually exclusive. We’re proud to join such an illustrious group of organizations participating in the U.N. Global Compact. This is a natural next step for us in advancing our mission of creating a safer, more sustainable and productive world.”

Earlier this year, Sphera signed a commitment letter to join the Science Based Targets initiative. Now, by participating in the U.N. Global Compact, Sphera joins more than 12,000 organizations from over 160 countries that have pledged to incorporate universally accepted sustainability principles into their companies.
