Accolade recognizes leading global ESG firm’s commitment to sustainable growth that is embedded in its mission

CHICAGO, IL (September 6, 2022) – Sphera, a leading global provider of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance and risk management software, data and consulting services, today announced that it received a Sustainability Leadership Award from the Business Intelligence Group in its 2022 Sustainability Awards program.

The Sustainability Awards honor those people, teams and organizations who have made sustainability an integral part of their business practice or overall mission. Sphera received this recognition for its support of businesses as they take measurable, proactive steps in their sustainability journeys. By providing companies with vital ESG tools—innovative software, science-based data and expert-driven insights—Sphera enables them to measure and report their corporate sustainability performance.

The ever-evolving regulatory landscape, mounting investor and consumer pressures and an increase in greenwashing accusations underscore the necessity for companies to set a clearly defined sustainability roadmap aligned to business goals. This brings with it a need for what Sphera can deliver: standardization and digitalization of end-to-end sustainability data measurement and reporting.

For example, Sphera’s carbon accounting solutions allow users to easily collect Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions data, automatically calculate their organization’s carbon footprint and seamlessly report their sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders. Earlier this year, the Blackstone Group, one of the largest private equity firms in the world and Sphera’s investor, integrated Sphera’s carbon accounting solutions into its emissions reduction program, which seeks to reduce carbon emissions by 15% across a number of Blackstone’s portfolio companies.

“We are honored to be recognized by Business Intelligence Group as a global sustainability leader,” said Paul Marushka, Sphera’s CEO and president. “Sphera empowers organizations to better understand, help improve and communicate their corporate sustainability performance. Bringing innovative software, data and consulting solutions to market that help businesses set, achieve and report on meaningful ESG and sustainability goals is critical to our mission of creating a safer, more sustainable and productive world.”

“We are proud to reward and recognize Sphera for their sustainability efforts,” said Maria Jimenez, Chief Nominations Officer, Business Intelligence Group. “It was clear to our judges that their vision and strategy will continue to deliver results toward a cleaner, more sustainable society.”
