With the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposal of a groundbreaking rule about climate, companies will need to understand the impact to their business and how to prepare to meet these new requirements.

As the SEC moves to standardize and mandate climate risk disclosures, this puts business leaders at an inflection point. Most of the inputs and outputs of any organization has a carbon impact – from purchasing electricity to corporate travel – and that carbon impact needs to be captured, measured, and reported making it a data problem. Many companies don’t have the systems in place to produce the data that investors and now regulators are demanding.
