As new research exposes the consequences of delayed risk identification, Sphera brings AI and connected risk intelligence to critical EHS workflows to help teams act sooner
CHICAGO, IL (October 14, 2026) – Sphera® today announced new Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) solutions and capabilities, powered by Sphera AI, that help organizations identify emerging risks, understand where exposure is building and take the right preventive action before conditions lead to serious incidents or operational disruptions.
The launch comes as new Sphera research reveals the operational consequences of recognizing risk too late. In a global survey of EHS professionals, 63% said their organizations experienced one or two operational disruptions or production delays in the past 12 months because risk conditions were recognized late, while 34% experienced three to five.
The findings expose a key challenge for EHS leaders. As operating conditions change, risk can build without warning signs being recognized, causing organizations to drift towards failure. Safety and operational data often sit in separate systems and workflows, which makes it harder to see how risk is changing and when to act. Among the 41% of survey respondents whose systems are mostly or partially integrated, 93% still spend at least one hour every week manually connecting risk information, with 28% spending six to ten hours.
Sphera AI Dynamic Risk Management connects risk signals across process safety and operations, providing greater visibility into emerging operational risks. By revealing where exposure is building, the solution helps teams recognize when operating conditions move beyond the assumptions established in approved Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies. With this information, organizations can pinpoint weaknesses in safeguards, procedures and risk controls to determine where to intervene before risks escalate into serious incidents.
“Speed to identification is everything when it comes to preventing serious safety incidents,” said Paul Marushka, president and CEO of Sphera. “The warning signs are often already in the data, but recognizing them too late can have significant consequences for people and operations. We can connect those risk signals across process safety, operations, chemical management, incident reporting and MRO, so organizations can see where exposure is building, understand where action is needed and intervene before an incident occurs. With Sphera AI, EHS leaders move from reacting to incidents to preventing them.”
Having accurate information available when decisions need to be made is also critical to managing chemical risks. Sphera is expanding its chemical management solutions to help teams assess complex chemical information, identify chemical risks early, evaluate potential exposures and apply appropriate controls consistently across operations. The Sphera AI Agent for Chemical Management Reporting helps users find specific chemical information faster, supporting quicker decisions and follow-up activities.
New AI capabilities also extend to incident reporting and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO). In workplace safety, the Sphera AI Agent for Incident Reporting helps frontline workers and contractors capture more complete, consistent information about safety events, speeding up response and supporting efforts to prevent recurrence. For MRO, the Sphera AI Agent for MRO Data Governance improves the quality and completeness of data, helping strengthen mechanical integrity, increase asset availability and support safer, more reliable operations.
