Sphera’s ESG offering recognized by independent analysis of enterprise EHS software solutions
CHICAGO, IL (March 18, 2021) – Sphera, a leading global provider of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance and risk management software, data and consulting services, has been named as a market leader for environmental compliance and sustainability management by Verdantix, an independent analyst firm, in its recently released “EHS Software Benchmark” report.
For the benchmark report, Verdantix applied 99 assessment criteria to 22 providers of enterprise-scale Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) software platform solutions. The analysis, which originally appeared in the Verdantix “Green Quadrant EHS Software 2021” report, was based on a three-hour live product demonstration, vendor responses to 332 questions and interviews with customers using the software.
Sphera achieved the highest score in environmental compliance management, which included assessment of software functionality for managing air emissions, greenhouse gas emissions, water and wastewater management, and hazardous waste. As noted in the report, “Sphera’s emissions management applications have helped large multinational firms achieve compliance with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Title V of the Clean Air Act, Canada’s National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), Australia’s National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act (NGER), the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS) and the UK London Stock Exchange’s mandatory carbon reporting requirements, to name a few.”
Verdantix also awarded Sphera with the highest score among vendors for sustainability reporting. Sphera’s Corporate Sustainability solution enables companies to report on their sustainability activities using widely accepted disclosure framework standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Sphera customers also enjoy the flexibility to report to sector- or industry-specific frameworks like Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and American Gas Association (AGA) standards. Corporate Sustainability builds a strong foundation for companies that need to provide sustainability information in a professional and transparent way to complement financial reporting.
In the Green Quadrant report, Verdantix wrote that “Sphera’s corporate sustainability reporting (formerly SoFi) software, product life cycle assessment (formerly GaBi) software, and in-house team of more than 100 sustainability consultants are well-suited to firms seeking to establish or maintain industry leadership on corporate sustainability excellence.”
“We are very proud to be recognized by Verdantix as a leader in environment and sustainability management,” said Sphera President and CEO Paul Marushka. “As the report suggests, most firms are looking for increased digitization and an integrated ESG & Sustainability solution. At Sphera, we are ready to help our clients with data-driven insights to maximize cost-effectiveness, increase the value of their investments, and satisfy both traditional compliance and future sustainability needs.”
