Sphera Essential Suite’s integration by Santee Cooper, South Carolina’s state-owned electric and water utility, has the distinct honor of being named a 2017 Project of the Year.
Santee Cooper installed Sphera Essential Suite as the backbone to its new enterprise-wide environmental management information system (EMIS). The unified system addressed growing external and internal pressures, such as the implementation of stricter regulations and an influx of employee retirements. A result of the new system, environmental managers were enabled to move away from manual processes and move toward a streamlined system that aligns with the EPA’s Plan, Do, Check, Act model.
In addition to enhancing sustainability, the EMIS also promotes personal accountability by automatically alerting task owners when projects are due. Current results suggest that this function motivates employees to complete tasks earlier and reduces the risk of non-compliance.
