To celebrate Sphera’s third anniversary, we look back at three great milestones and innovations from each of our first three years. Here are some highlights from our second year. Keep in mind that while the name “Sphera” is only a few years old, the company actually traces its history back more than three decades.
Year Two
A ‘Mature’ Conversation

Let us break it down for you: Product Stewardship is an essential tool to manage hazardous chemicals throughout a product’s lifecycle wherever that journey may take it. With regulatory compliance becoming increasingly more challenging, smart companies are turning to digital options to ensure they are tracking and monitoring the substances in their merchandise meticulously. So wouldn’t you want to know how mature your organization’s Product Stewardship capabilities are? Better question: Who wouldn’t? In 2018, Sphera launched our first maturity model for Product Stewardship. This quick nine-question tool will give you a bird’s eye view of what areas of your organization could use some improvement and give you recommendations on what can be done to improve the situation. A second maturity model tool is in the works. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the announcement.
Playing the Part

Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) can be a huge challenge when it comes to mitigating risk. A broken part could lead to an incident, and there’s no excuse for not being aware that a part is close to failing. As part of Sphera’s focus on keeping people safe, products sustainable and operations productive, Sphera acquired leading U.K.-based MRO software company sparesFinder in 2018 to help bring Sphera’s MRO software into the cloud. “MRO is a huge and often expensive part of many large and midsize companies’ day-to-day operations,” Marushka said, “and adding sparesFinder’s solutions to the Sphera family will help our clients manage their MRO needs seamlessly whether they choose an on-premise or cloud-based solution.” Ready to play your part in mitigating risk, or, in other words: How MRO can you go? Spark Plugged In

It’s not every day that you get to launch your own magazine, but that’s exactly what Sphera did in 2018 when the premiere edition of Spark, a beautifully designed, if we don’t say so ourselves, workplace safety and sustainability publication, came off the printer. The first cover story took a deep dive into a future workplace where robots and humans work side by side, but how do companies accomplish that safely? The magazine also features articles on Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, human errors and more paired with fun content like a safety-related movie review of “Jurassic World” and entertaining columns as well. The second edition of Spark debuted at inspire, and includes articles on safety applications for augmented, virtual and mixed reality; an interview with Dr. Robert Ballard, the man who found the Titanic, and even a magical discussion about safety best practices in the world of illusion. Read the May 2019 issue now, and don’t forget to let us know what you think.
