As autumn fades away and winter begins, we unpack our winter toys, the kids count the days until winter break and the last of the leaves fall off as does the temperature. The switch to cooler weather also marks a peak season for the Environmental Health & Safety and Sustainability industry events around the globe. Sphera was a proud supporter and sponsor of a dozen terrific events that took place recently. Here are some highlights captured by our experts on-site.

Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals: Aug. 25-28, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia

Sarah Henderson, Sphera’s customer success manager for the Hazardous Material Management System (HMMS) presented “The Intersection of Hazardous Material Management and Sustainability.” More than 200 EHS&S professionals attended the event eager to network and learn. The annual AHMP conference puts much emphasis on the educational component and recognizes many of the sessions for industry designation credits. We look forward to the next edition of the conference, AHMP 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska, in August 2020.

European HSE (Health and Safety) Management Forum 4.0: Sept. 5-6, 2019, in Prague, Czech Republic

Sphera exhibited at the event and supported our client, Sue Parker-Tantush, head of safety at The Co-op in her presentation “Intelligent Data: How the Co-op Are Driving Change Through Their Utilization of New Technology.” Co-op is a U.K.-based retailer, and their presentation shared insight into their success managing risk and incident reporting with SpheraCloud technology.

National Safety Council 2019 Congress & Expo, Sept. 6-12, 2019, in San Diego, California

Sphera experts were on-hand to share our latest SDS & Chemical Data Management software. Save the date for the NSC 2020 Congress & Expo, Oct. 5-7, 2020, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Product Stewardship, Sept. 10-12, 2019, in Columbus, Ohio

The event offers an experience like no other by bringing together professionals from more than a dozen different industry sectors and throughout the value chain to deliver unique education and networking opportunities. Sphera was a Platinum sponsor at the event, hosted two presentations, exhibited and shared in the partner showcase (read the pre-event blog). Carrie Decatur, Sphera’s senior regulatory analyst, hosted a half-day workshop “Distinguishing Hazard From Risk: Application of the Product Exposure Modeling Toolbox” and a session in the general session titled “The Regulators’ Unquenchable Thirst for Information (Beyond the SDS).” Both presentations shared expertise around preparedness and the value of Sphera’s Regulatory Content, which is a difference-maker in the market for keeping people safe and products in compliance. You can see Sphera again at Product Stewardship 2020, Sept. 15-17, 2020, in Houston, Texas.

Chemical Material, Sept. 18-19, 2019, in Yokohama, Japan

Sphera was a proud to sponsor the Chemical Material event that attracted over 25,000 delegates from the chemical industry. With more than 250 exhibitors, Sphera was only one of many companies represented, but our presence was not small. Our team was selected to give a presentation, “Automated Chemical Substance Safety Management and Automatic SDS Creation Using IA” at the event. This laid the foundation for our expertise and showcased our Product Compliance solution for Safety Data Sheet creation.

Verdantix Summit North-America, Sept. 24-25, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia

Sphera continued to support the Verdantix events at the annual North American Summit in Atlanta. Our chief product officer, Mike Zamis, participated on a panel session titled “Fixing The Contractor Safety Challenge: Beyond Prequalification” along with experts from Randstad, Talos Energy and Verdantix. Together they shared insight about how firms are under pressure to keep a growing number of contractors safe. Contractor safety management is on the minds of EHS professionals. With firms hiring an increasing number of contract workers, especially in the U.S. and Canadian markets, maintaining safety has become a more complex task. Learn more in our e-book “How to Overcome the Contractor Safety Challenge.”

Sphera customer FLIR Integrated Imaging Solutions Inc. was also awarded the prestigious International EHS Innovation Awards in the category of Technology and Communications.

2019 European Conference on Process Safety and Big Data, Oct. 1-2, 2019, in Frankfurt, Germany

Sphera was an exhibitor and speaker at the event jointly organized by The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) and European Process Safety Centre (EPSC). Uwe Schneider, Sphera’s group vide president of international, was a panelist in the Current Technology Developments for EHS software along with Honeywell and IBM. Abhilash Menon, a Sphera solutions consultant for Operational Risk Management, commented on the top three industry trends highlighted in the session:

  • Industry has taken to the maturity of the connected enterprise solution offering and the demand is slowly rising to the supply.
  • Operators still have challenges in identifying potential hazards at their assets at an early stage.
  • Operators have a lot of data being generated, but need a structured way to extract the real information from that data.
