Abstract

In addition, the reply contains several arguments that speak against the allocation of engine friction losses in the context of automotive lightweighting. In conclusion, the authors cannot follow Kim et al's proposed solution and maintain their recommendation to follow the approach published in their 2010 methodology paper to assess the fuel savings due to automotive lightweighting for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
